Dear friends, the "Greetings from ... Emmy Explore the City" contest has ended!

I'm a bit sorry that there weren't many postcards that arrived, but the few that did arrive are all fantastic! Probably between dad, red and orange areas, the desire for exploration has disappeared a bit.

But even if the contest is closed, I invite you to stroll around your neighborhood in search of your favorite public space or in search of the one that most stimulates your revolutionary imagination in order to improve it! You will discover a lot of things that until now had escaped you.

A Fantastic Bridge

The Circola group of the Florence Architects Foundation together with the Order of Architects of Florence proposes to all the children (but also adults) of the world, the project "A fantastic bridge" to cultivate the idea of PEACE and hope of living in a more right world without wars.

The bridge is an urban element that belongs to the whole community and is the same for all those who cross it. The bridge is not just that building that allows you to overcome an obstacle: it’s much more!

It is a symbol that unites and at the same time divides; it is stable, but also fragile; it is suspended between two banks, it’s leaning on two banks, it can be isolated and inhabited, it can even move.

It’s not just an object, it represents the will of people not to stop but to go beyond the obstacle, overcoming it and bypassing it as best as possible, also to meet the different, the unknown, towards something Other and beyond.

The bridge represents the persistence of this will over time, because it does not wear away but remains over time, like a stone sentry waiting for the last traveler, much longer than the short time of our life. The bridge as an eternal symbol of the never satisfied human desire to go to the other side, connect, unite.

The working group of the Florence Architects Foundation, within the FANTASTIC ARCHITECTURE initiatives, draws its inspiration from the symbol and icon of the city of Florence, Ponte Vecchio, to launch a contest that invites all children and not only them to design, with imagination, the own Ponte Fantastico, a symbol of union, connection and conjunction between men and places.
